Marcel Loeffler is a Gipsy, born in Haguenau (France) in 1956.
Music is part of the life of Marcel Loeffler since a very young age. Initiated by father guitarist, he chooses the accordion as an instrument of predilection.
It knows experience performing at the age of 8 years, along with his brother, battery, and his father. He explains: "It is at this time that I began to listen to the great jazz Gus viewfinder and Art Van Damme accordeonistes." ""I've spent white nights to try copying!" Found on some of these influences on his first solo disc "Vago". Rich music of Marcel Loeffler comes probably this mix, this palette in varied colors and a great sensitivity. His roots are of course of Gypsy jazz, Marcel soon broadened its horizons in interested very closely the work of great musicians from jazz American. Mandino Reinhardt guitarist since 30 years in the "Sweet Chorus" group road Assistant then "Note Gypsy". Since then, Marcel has several CDs to his assets.
After his emotional tribute to Gus Viseur in 2010, Marcel Loeffler decided to record a more personal project, presenting his own compositions. With this new album, the accordionist demonstrates one more time the wild range of his skills, he feels as comfortable on waltzes (Ovation) as on ballads ( Olmo) or on compositions turned to the groove ( Vago); he also pays tribute to Jacques Brel in his review of "La chanson des vieux amants". Titles of the album sound like movie tracks and one can easily imagine traveling inside a painting made by Marcel Loeffler. They pay tribute to Jazz and to the accordion which he has been defending since the beginning. For this new project in Quartet, Marcel Loeffler asked his best friends Gilles Coquard ( bass) , Jean Yves Jung (piano) and Jean Marc Robin (drums) to join.
