2013 Hyundai Langdong Review

2013 Hyundai Langdong, which can be translated as a “dynamic (car) for the young, new generation,” is based on Hyundai Elantra that has captured the hearts of customers worldwide. Langdong, which will be produced at Hyundai’s new, third plant in Beijing in the second half of 2012, is expected to accelerate the upward momentum for Hyundai in the world’s largest auto market.

Hyundai Langdong is based on a design concept called Wind Craft that is part of Hyundai's larger design philosophy of Fluidic Sculpture, which has been applied to the company's entire lineup since 2009. The aggressive front-end design of Langdong, with its wraparound headlights, creates a feeling of motion and strength. The streamlined character line on the side volume sweeps back dramatically toward the rear, giving the entire vehicle the appearance of having been crafted by the wind.

Hyundai Langdong is a compact car with the feel of a larger car. With an overall length of 4,690 mm, width of 1,880 mm, height of 1,680 mm and a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, Langdong is larger than its competitors.

Hyundai’s 1.6L and 1.8L MPI engines will be offered on Langdong. The 1.6L engine has a maximum power of 93.8 kW (127.4 PS) and a maximum torque of 155.5N.m (15.9 kg.m). The 1.8L engine has a maximum power of 107.4 kW (146.1 PS) and a maximum torque of 174.6 N.m (17.8 kg.m). Hyundai Langdong also offers excellent fuel economy, beating its rivals with fuel-saving devices that include our 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions and Hyundai’s Active ECO driving mode.

2013 Hyundai i30 Wagon New Generation

The 2013 Hyundai i30 wagon’s overall length is increased by 185 mm to 4485 mm over its five-door sibling, making it one of the most accommodating vehicles in the European C-segment, and 10 mm longer than the original i30 wagon.

The New Generation Hyundai i30 wagon will be available with the same three gasoline direct injection engines and three diesel engines as the five-door, producing 90 to 135 ps.

Compared with the five-door, the wagon expands trunk space from 378-litres to a best-in-class 528-litres – and with the rear passenger seats folded down, cargo volume increases more than three-fold, to 1,642-litres.

Buyers of the New Generation Hyundai i30 wagon will benefit from Five Year Triple Care, comprising a five-year unlimited warranty, five years’ roadside assistance, and five years of vehicle health checks.

2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe New Upgrade Technology

The 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe debut at the North American International Auto Show. The new Hyundai Genesis Coupe come with redesigned front fascia, grille, headlights, LED daytime running lights, fog lights and hood with heat extractor cues.

Both Genesis Coupe engines receive significant technology upgrades, backing up its new design statement with impressive performance gains. The 3.8-liter Lambda DOHC V6 engine adds sophisticated direct-injection technology, adding 42 horsepower (a generous 14 percent increase) and 29 lb.-ft of torque (an eleven percent increase). Peak horsepower rises to 348 at 6,400 RPM, with peak torque increasing to 295 lb.-ft. at 5,300 RPM on premium fuel. In addition, lambda-engine anti-knock technology gives this V6 the versatility to run on regular fuel. This new direct-injected engine will easily propel the Genesis Coupe from zero to 60 mph in the lower five-second range on its way to an impressive 149 mph electronically-limited top speed.

Engine specs the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes with the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, peak output has been lifted to 274 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. This represents a jump of 64 horsepower and 52 pound-feet of torque over the outgoing model, courtesy of a new twin-scroll turbocharger and larger intercooler. The 3.8-liter V-6 meanwhile gains 42 horsepower and 29 pound-feet of torque over the pre-facelifted Hyundai Genesis Coupe, with its final figures pegged at 348 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Also new is an eight-speed automatic replacing the outgoing model’s six-speed and if you prefer to shift gears yourself, a six-speed manual is still standard on both engine options.

While all Genesis Coupe models offer a true rear-drive sport driving experience, the high-performance Genesis Coupe R-Spec and Track models raise the bar even higher with differentiated, track-tuned suspension calibrations. The R-Spec/Track suspension features both firmer front spring rates (seven percent) and rear spring rates (eleven percent), with matched damper rates. The Genesis Coupe R-Spec/Track models also deliver a significant increase in roll control over other versions of the Genesis Coupe via thicker stabilizer bars (24mm front/20mm rear). For 2013, all Genesis Coupes receive improved low-velocity-control dampers for refined ride comfort coupled with improved body control.

2011 Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra comes with an aluminum engine 1.8-liter four-cylinder that generates 148 horsepower. Despite the strong delivery, the Elantra is able to achieve exceptional fuel economy ratings similar to that of a hybrid. The car is rated at 29 mpg city and 40 mpg on the highway is ideal for climbing gas prices. While most small cars are equipped with a four-speed transmission automatic or five, the Elantra has a six-speed automatic transmission that contributes to fuel efficiency.

Another feature that makes the Elantra, to distinguish it from its competitors is its cost. All vehicles are equipped with fuel-saving technology can save you money at the pump, but the Elantra is one of the few that also saves you money at the dealership. The car is available in the Peoria dealership Elantra 2011 for only $ 14,830, making it one of the most competitively priced cars in its class. Then take into account the money saved on gas pumps and 10 Hyundai year powertrain limited warranty and the Elantra is nothing less than spectacular.

Now, Hyundai is teasing us with a conceptual rendering of the Elantra's interior that, like the exterior, promises a dramatic revamp relative to the current model Judging from the sketch, the 2011 Elantra's cabin design will continue the same "sculpted" theme seen on the new Sonata's interior.

2012 Hyundai i40 is a Sonata Wagon We Could Love

Hyundai-i40-geneva

The 2012 Hyundai i40 is avalable eith a choise of four Euro V-complaint engines including two gasoline and two diesels. All four units range from 113-hp to 174-hp. Of course that won't allow your any impressive perfomance numbers but you will definitely be saving money at the pump.

Genava has been quite a show for big, handsome wagons, from the stonking Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG to the shapely Saab 9-5 Sportcombi, there's been a kinschlepper for every taste and budget. Adding to the variety is Hyundai's i40 estate, and it, too, is a looker.
Boasting the same shaply rising character line as the Sonata sedan upon whish it's based, the i40 nevertheless has a more traditional nose, with a smaller grille and headlamps that look more like those from the Sonata Hybrid. Overall, the front aesthetic lurks somewhere betwen the Elantra and an embiggened Veloster, but either way, it's all Hyundai ant it's an attractive piece.

Hyundai is quick to note that the i40 was developed in Russelsheim, Germany, with the European market firmly in mind, and it will be the Continent's first crack at the model range when it hits dealers later this year. A sedan variant will follow, but it's not known if it will look like the North American YF Sonata sedan, or if it eill adopt this car's front clip.

Similarly, we know that more than a few executives within Hyundai of America want to see two-box Sonata come to the States, but it isn't yet clear if a business case has been made for the shapely load-lugger.

Super Bowl ads. Ford, Chrysler, & VW oddly missing

We got word that there will be four automakers with ads during the Super Bowl this year. General Motors will have a Chevrolet 60 second spot during the second quarter and Cadillac will be sponsor for the pre and post game shows.

Hyundai and Toyota will both have two spots each. Also announced is a spot from Audi. This marks their first time advertising during a Super Bowl in 20 years. Theirs will be a two minute long spot featuring the Audi R8.

Toyota's ad will more than likely pump up the new Sequoia and Tundra pickup. Though I highly doubt that it will do anything to help the Tundra's image right now.

Cars.com will also have a 30 second spot this year.

Strangely though is the lack of an announcement that Ford or Chrysler will be having spots. There is still time for them to jump on the band wagon, so we'll see where it goes.

I watch the Super Bowl just for the car ads. General Motors has always topped our list of favorites. So as a bonus, we're including our favorite GM spot from the Super Bowl in 06.

LA 2007: Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe

I had never been a big fan of Hyundais, but this concept coupe is one sweet looking coupe. Hyundai announced today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show that the Genesis Coupe marks the plans for a new rear wheel drive coupe in the lineup.

The styling is very emotional, and looks as though it could be a car from Europe rather than Korea.

Plans so far for the coupe include being powered by a 3.8 liter V6 that will produce 300+ HP, backed by a 6 speed manual transmission. And lastly Brembo brakes. Sounds like a good start.
Let's hope this car doesn't change much in production form.
Press Release:
Hyundai unveils rear-wheel Drive Concept Genesis Coupe
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 14, 2007 - Hyundai unveiled its highly anticipated Concept Genesis Coupe during a press conference at the Los Angeles International Auto Show today. The concept car heralds the introduction of an all-new, rear-wheel drive 2 + 2 sports coupe scheduled to join the Hyundai lineup in the spring of 2009. Following the introduction earlier this year of the Concept Genesis sedan, Concept Genesis Coupe signals Hyundai's second step in broadening its appeal to driving enthusiasts.

The Sonic Orange concept is complemented by a Ballistic Black carbon fiber hood, roof and ground effects for reduced weight. Strong hints of the production version are highlighted in its "Z" bodylines and powerful curves. When the production sports coupe arrives, it likely will be the most affordable 300+ horsepower car on the market, and the most dynamic performance car yet from Hyundai.
Concept Genesis Coupe"Concept Genesis Coupe is the most thrilling, most emotional Hyundai yet," said John Krafcik, vice president, product development and strategic planning, Hyundai Motor America. "When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse."

DESIGN PROCESS
"The mission for Concept Genesis Coupe was to create a pure performance car with a design that would capture the imagination of hardcore automotive enthusiasts," said Joel Piaskowski, chief designer at the Hyundai Design Center in Irvine, Calif. "With its aggressive look from just about any angle, I think we have been able to do that."

Designers used the Day Light Opening (DLO -- a designer's term for the side glass) from the HCD9 Talus Concept on the Concept Genesis Coupe.
The HCD8 sport tourer concept's sensual body forms influenced the overall design direction of Concept Genesis Coupe. The powerful curves, surface detail and "Z" bodyside lines come straight from the same underlying inspiration that guided two earlier, well-received concepts: the HCD9 Talus and the HCD8 sports tourer. The undulating beltline borrowed from the Talus adds intrigue while enhancing outward visibility for both the driver and rear passengers. The HCD8 sports tourer's sensual body forms influenced the overall design theme while also providing direction for the concept's assertive headlight and taillight designs.

The look of Concept Genesis Coupe was in part inspired by LeMan's race cars, drifters and by Jada Toys Dub City™ die cast vehicles. The front and rear stance of the Concept Genesis Coupe can be described as sinister. "Beauty and danger co-exist in the design of the Concept Genesis Coupe," said Eric Stoddard, senior creative designer. "When viewed from a distance, the car is beautiful to look at. But up close it can appear a bit menacing and even a little intimidating."

The concept's rocker panels are drawn close to the ground making the bodysides extra thick and the daylight opening extremely thin, allowing the wheels to be slammed up into bulging fenders. To complete the aggressive sports car look, the depth between the fenders and the greenhouse has been maximized.

Three large heat extractors sculpted into the hood are designed to cool just about any powerful engine. When the concept becomes reality, three large openings in the front fascia will allow for better engine breathing. The dual exhaust tips integrated into the rear fascia repeat the design theme of the front cooling ducts and are surrounded by a large carbon fiber air diffuser. An arching roofline and tapering greenhouse highlight the exterior profile and emphasize the car's broad shoulders and wide stance. Concept Genesis Coupe rides on 20-inch polished aluminum deep-dish wheels with Hankook 255/35 ZR front tires and 275/35 ZR rear tires.
