Earlier today, Japan’s largest mobile services provider NTT DoCoMo released the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, the country's first LTE-compatible handset. NTT DoCoMo’s LTE service, dubbed "Xi" (pronounced "crossie"), offers speeds up to ten times faster than the previous 3G FOMA service, although the network is still in its infancy. NTT DoCoMo is the only one of Japan's three largest carriers not to carry Apple's devices.

NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it received the highest marks among Japan's mobile phone operators in the 2011 Japan Mobile Phone Service StudySM, a customer-satisfaction study conducted by J.D. Power Asia Pacific. The study examined customer satisfaction with mobile phone operators based on six factors: handset, service offered, network quality/coverage area, cost, handset purchase experience and customer --care.

DOCOMO scored the highest in four factors: service offered, network quality/coverage area, handset purchase experience and customer care. Previously, DOCOMO also received the highest marks among mobile operators in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2011 Japan Business Mobile Phone Service StudySM announced in September, the third consecutive year in which DOCOMO has placed highest in this separate study. NTT DOCOMO is a world-leading mobile operator and growing provider of comprehensive services centered on mobility. Overseas, the company provides technical and operational expertise to eight mobile operators and other partner companies.
