Nissan Canada will work with the province of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia Power to introduce zero-emission vehicles into the province, according to a memorandum of understanding signed by the government, the utility and the car maker.

Nissan is driven by motives both lofty and practical.  “As a manufacturer we provide innovative vehicles that Canadians love and want to drive,” said Allen Childs, president of Nissan Canada. The Nissan Leaf is a medium-size hatchback that seats five adults, has a range of 99 miles, and sells for $38,395.  Nissan has sold more than 100 Leafs in Canada and 17,000 worldwide. People living within 40 miles of an EV-certified Nissan dealer can reserve a Leaf online.

Brian Carolin, NNA’s vice president for sales and marketing, anticipates that “thousands of these chargers will be installed across the country, enabling electric cars like the Nissan LEAF to be driven for even greater distances and duration.” “This charger is the first of its kind, and it’s truly revolutionary,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, sales and marketing for Nissan North America.  “A low-cost DC quick charger unlocks the potential for unprecedented electric vehicle use and adoption. We anticipate thousands of these chargers will be installed across the country, enabling electric cars like the Nissan LEAF to be driven for even greater distances and durations.”
