Google Doodle celebrates the life and career of inventor Robert Noyce

Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the life and career of inventor Robert Noyce, co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel. Noyce, who died in 1990, is credited with the invention of the integrated circuit.--Google pays homage today to the co-creator of the microchip with a doodle dedicated to Robert Noyce.

Today's Google Doodle , featured on Google's home page, is its logo imprinted upon a microprocessor similar to what Noyce helped invent. Clicking on the doodle brings up search engine results for Noyce. Noyce became part of a team in 1957 that left Philco Corp. to found Fairchild Semiconductor. "Optimism is an essential ingredient of innovation," SearchEngineWatch.com credited Noyce with writing. Noyce, born in 1927, died on June 3, 1990, at the age of 62. The electronics engineer, who also ran the firm Fairchild Semiconductor, invented the integrated chip, which paved the way for the microprocessors used in modern computers. Mr Noyce died in 1990 of heart failure at the age of 62.
