AMG is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a 45-unit run of Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG special-edition cars. The 45 SL65 AMGs will have distinctive paint and interior appointments found on no other SLs.
Each anniversary model will be painted designo magno graphite — a satin gray color — while a high-gloss chrome finish has been applied to the front grille “twin-blade” slats and the area surrounding the AMG-specific LED daytime running lights to contrast with the matte paint.
The carbon fiber on the front apron cross strut, side mirrors, and lip spoiler features a matte finish to complement the satin gray paint. The engine cover is finished in carbon fiber and aluminum while black chrome tailpipe surrounds contrast with the chrome exhaust tips. The AMG alloy wheels have a matte titanium finish with a machined lip — front wheels are wrapped in 255/35R 19 inch tires while 285/30R 20 inch tires are fitted out back.
Inside, two-tone titanium grey peal/ginger beige leather adorns the cabin. The AMG sport seats and door panels as well as the designo nappa leather roof lining feature an AMG-V12 exclusive diamond pattern. AMG emblems are embossed on the headrests while an AMG logo resides on the two-tone steering wheel. Interior trim is finished in matte carbon fiber to match the exterior. The ashtray cover gets a special “45th ANNIVERSARY – 1 OF 45″ badge.
The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary model is powered by a 630-hp twin-turbo V-12 producing an electronically limited 737 lb-ft of torque from 2300-4300 rpm. AMG claims the car is capable of reaching 62 mph in 4.0 seconds and is governed at 155 mph.
Mercedes will launch the 45th anniversary model in September. Considering a 2011 SL65 AMG cost about $200,000, if you can find this new special-edition model, expect to pay far more.
