The Problem: Volvo is recalling a number of model year 2011-2013 S80 sedans due to a possible error in the transmission software program. The affected cars may have issues downshifting, such as from fifth to fourth gear, when coasting. As a result, the engine could stall and increase the risk of a crash.
The Fix: The recall will begin later this week. Notified owners can take their vehicles to the dealership where Volvo will update the transmission software for free. For questions, contact Volvo at 800-458-1552.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1469 model year 2011-2013 Volvo S80.
