Victor Biglione: Maquette Brazil (1996)

Brazilian guitarist Victor Biglione's 1996 release "Maquette Brazil" offers eleven instrumentals in a jazz, Metheny-like vein ("Git'in", "Suite Brazil #1"), or the electric fusion style ("New World Street Samba", with its overdriven sound and monster bass solo, and "Party At Salgueiro"), with a few solo guitar pieces (Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood" and Legrand's "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life") added for good measure. "Maquette Brazil" shows off some Brazilian influence, which is fairly rare for Biglione, on tracks such as the pair of "Northeast Brazil" numbers, "Via Canal" and "Rain In Ipanema", which imparts a samba feel. Biglione takes a number of solos into his own territory - especially on the Stevie Wonder cover track, "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" - which gives the listener a taste of his virtuosity.
