Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska captured her second title of 2012 by defeating world No. 2 Maria Sharapova 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the WTA/ATP Miami tournament on Saturday.
The 23-year-old from Krakow won earlier this year in Dubai but this marked the biggest win of her career as she competed in Miami at new career high ranking of fourth in the world.
The Russian star held a 7-1 head-to-head record against her rival, but was unable to take advantage of two set points in the first and failed to take the only break chance in the opening eight games of the second.
Miami is now the third final that Sharapova lost this season, following defeats in Australian Open and Indian Wells.
