My home: Dining pendant lights

Hejsan! I hope you all had a lovely weekend? Here in Sweden it was Pappas's day. And we celebrated by errrr,  Pappa and I spending hours putting up our new Porcelight P14 pendant lamps by Danish designer Erik Magnussen from Malmö Modern. I am so happy with the outcome that I've tried to capture it in pictures for yours truly. There's even a blurry one of my man helping with the wiring! Bless him!

All pictures: My Scandinavian Home

What do you think? (best just to say you like them...hahaha). When the lamps are on they let of a beautiful warm glow like in the picture of me blogging in the early hours here:

Oh and in case you're about to do the same here is my two pence worth:

3 tips on hanging pendant lamps over a dining table:

How high should pendant lights hang over a dining table?
If there's more than one and they're relatively small you can hang them quite low. They should be low enough to avoid glare from the bulbs yet high enough to be able to see the other people around the table. Ours are 57cm above the table.

How far apart should the pendant lights hang?
If you have three pendant lights, divide the table into four equal parts and hang the lamps at equal intervals along this line.

How do I get power to all the lights?
We used CableCup ceiling roses for suspension lamps with a splitter so that we could feed the cable in from one end and then through the next two lamps. They seem to work so far...:)

Hope you all had a great weekend and happy Pappa's day to all your wonderful daddys out there! x

working towards the dream...

I love all of the intricate details of Paris, I love that she stays there being beautiful just waiting for us to visit once again.  I have missed her this year!  We are planning a trip for Spring and I cannot wait to see how little she has changed!

I hope you have a dreamy weekend!
We will be here working hard to be able to visit next Spring!

Interior photography...

I think that among us there is a deep appreciation for quality artistic interior photography.  Even if we don't realize it the photography and often times the photographer are what make these spaces show in the best possible light.  It does take great styling and design I know that, but without the art of the photograph it is so hard to show it to the world, short of touring each and every space in person.

I love that a photo can capture light and depth in a space so beautifully.  So thank you to all of those interior photographers out there who make things oh so beautiful!

weekend of R & R

How has another week passed so quickly.  I could seriously loose a few days in this room if I tried.  Couldn't you just imagine reading with the natural light?

What do you have planned for the weekend? I think I may have already mentally started the weekend!

Lifestyle in grey..

It is always a nice relief to do a little something creative when you get inspired.  These are just a few of the wonderful things I have been seeing out there and they make for a great combination in a sitting area don't you think?

a little kitchen inspiration...

I have been hording images for months and after getting the green light on the kitchen remodel I have had to finally narrow it down.  So here they are most of my favorites...
Above is the beautiful kitchen from the home of Loi Thai from Tone on Tone.  Pendants love them and they seem pretty similar to the pair that I purchased last week for my kitchen!  Cabinets- beautiful color so soft and clean and just not quite white (well in this photo- I am not sure if they are in person).

I love this glass front cabinet for dishes and glassware with storage on the bottom.
Something similar will go where our really large pantry is now.

Beautiful island love the cabinet color..  Our island will be a light grey to match the colors in the backsplash which will be a vein cut limestone (my color starting point).

I love the base detail on this piece and of course the color is super cool.

We will have a similar cook top- I am leaning towards the Kitchen-aid version with a griddle.
Yes please.

I love this cabinet too for dishes just deciding on the style.  Mine will have a dark espresso finish.

I love the huge molding detail on the top of the cabinetry in this space and the storage on the island.

As well as the amazing pendants!

Also, thank you for all of your sweet comments and emails about my last post!!  Keeping those fingers crossed for me always helps!  Off to start a wonderful week...

greige on the lake

A perfectly relaxing space inside and out.  I love the soft subtle colors mixed in with the glass beads and the the vintage bottles and accessories.  It just shows how much you can do with texture and beautiful light in a space.

Note how each space has a beautiful light fixture.  I love this custom piece above the tub.
